Description
Estadio do Restelo is one of the most famous stadiums in Lisbon, located in the historical district of Belém. Opened in 1956, it is home to Belenenses Football Club and has remained an important sports and concert venue in Portugal for many decades. During football matches, the stadium seats 19,856 spectators, and during concerts its capacity increases to 40-45 thousand people thanks to the use of standing areas.
The arena is distinguished by its classic oval architecture with open stands, which offer picturesque views of the Tagus River and the 25th of April Bridge. The central stand is equipped with a protective canopy, ensuring the comfort of spectators in any weather. In anticipation of the 2004 European Football Championship, the stadium was modernized and used as a training base for the Italian national team. It also hosted the UEFA Women's Champions League final in 2014.
Apart from football matches, Estádio do Restelo is widely known as one of the best concert venues in Portugal. Thanks to its successful architecture and high-quality acoustics, performances by world performers, festivals and other large-scale events take place here. Over the years, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Metallica and many other famous artists performed on the stage of the stadium.
